The T-62 was developed as the successor of the widely used T-55 and entered service in 1961 with the Soviet Army. The main armament was a 115mm smoothbore gun with a fire rate of 4 rounds per minute. Until 1975, approximately 20,000 T-62 tanks were manufactured and took part in many conflicts in places such as Afghanistan, Yom Kippur, Gulf War, Syria, Libya and others.
