The all-wheel drive truck GAZ-66 (called Shishiiga from the two gears in the name) was developed in the 1960s and remained in production until the early 21th century. The vehicle was popular for its excellent off-road capability, reliability, and maintainability. By its even load on both axles, the use of cam differentials, and high ground clearance, the “Shishiga” is capable of tackling severe off-road conditions. The truck is still used today by the military, border guards, emergency services, and in the national economy.
