Tamiya Takes Over Glastonbury
The annual Tamiya Takeover at Jadlam Toys and Models deemed another hit!
At their popular Glastonbury store, leading Tamiya retailer Jadlam Toys and Models hosted its annual Tamiya Takeover, a family funday with attractions, show cars, and retail offers this past weekend (Saturday 15th August). The sun shone again on the popular event in Somerset, just down the road from the world-famous Glastonbury music festival, attracting both Tamiya and model fans from near and far.
The event had something for everybody, including the ever-popular Lunch Box Test Track. Visitors flocked to drive Tamiya Vanessa Lunch Box trucks on a specially designed oval track including a jump. Yet again, this proved popular, attracting drivers of all ages. The iconic RC monster van had to be tough and durable throughout as young RC fans bashed and thrashed around the track, proving the superb reliability of Tamiya items!

The full-size Toyota Hilux Tamiya Bruiser was on display, perched on a steep grass bank next to the shop to attract passing traffic and was one of many show cars at the event. Some visitors even brought their special edition RC items to show, including an impressive green Super Clod Buster (re-release coming soon). Once again, the event also included a 1/14 scale Tamiya truck display of working haulage by local enthusiast group Mendip RC Truckers, featuring over fifteen Tamiya trucks on a miniature road layout playing out haulage scenarios.
Inside, renowned modeller Jonathan Mock was again on hand for the Tamiya Takeover, sharing model making techniques and build advice to visitors as he built a recently released Tamiya 1/24 Morris Mini Cooper 1275. Also for this year, a member of the Jadlam team live-built a 50th Anniversary Edition Porsche 934. This was supported by a beautiful display case featuring a completed version next to the original 934 RC boxed kit, Tamiya's first ever RC car released fifty years ago in 1976. Business in the shop was brisk with the event attracting around 1,000 shoppers.
