Schumi Returns
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has made a surprise
return from retirement and will return to Formula One racing in 2010. Three years after he retired at the height of his career with
Ferrari following five world title wins for the Italian team, Schumacher is
returning to lead a renamed, revitalised and refinanced Brawn team now
owned and branded as Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix. Having retired in 2006, Schumacher, who turns 41 on January 3rd
will be the oldest and most accomplished driver to be on the grid when the
new season starts with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14. Schumacher is statistically the most successful
driver in F1 history. His record includes seven world titles, 91 wins and
he set the fastest lap 76 times. Tamiya have two significant Schumacher race cars
in its current 1/20th scale F1 plastic model series.

The Benetton Ford B192 saw Schumacher partner team
mate Martin Brundle and was the German’s first race car he drove for the
Anglo-Italian operation, a team who would later help him to secure his
first two F1 World Championships.

The
Ferrari F2001 is considered the most successful F1 car of all time. During the 2001 season it helped
Schumacher successfully defend his world crown. Designed by Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne, the F2001 was so good
that it even started the 2002 season for the first two races with upgraded
modifications which allowed the German to win the season opener in
Australia. The F2001 took 10 wins, 13 pole positions, 4 fastest laps and 197
points in its career. Why not take a closer look at these two Schumacher
rellated race cars? Tamiya 1/20 plastic kits are highly detailed allowing
a real insight into the beautiful engineering and design of these iconic
racers. Instructions are straight
forward and designed for a beginner, yet with enough scope to challenge the
most experienced of modelers.
