Stoneman wins again to extend points lead

Brit doubles up in Germany to close in on F2 title.
Sunday 5th September 2010 - Oschersleben, Germany. Dean Stoneman took a massive stride towards winning
the FIA 2010 Formula Two championship by claiming his second win of the weekend
in Oschersleben.
Starting from pole, Stoneman held his lead through the opening corners
and looked assured throughout the 23-lap contest. His sixth win of the season
sees him move 31 points clear of title rival Jolyon Palmer - who could only
finish 12th - with just two rounds remaining.
"Obviously I've moved a lot closer to the title," Stoneman
enthused after the race. "I've got a 31 point lead, which means I have a
race in hand. All I've got to do now is keep it consistent, finish the next two
races in Valencia and hopefully I can win the championship!"
It was a difficult weekend for Stoneman’s main Championship rival Palmer
who could only qualify in 13 for race two.
There were no such problems for Stoneman. Although it was the first time the 19-year old driver had ever
raced at the German track, the young British rising star gave a master class in
both qualifying for both race one and two, the latter securing pole, despite
changeable weather conditions.
Stoneman takes his 31 point lead to the final
two races in Valencia 17th -19th September.

Stoneman shines in the rain to take title lead
19 year old sets F2 record
Saturday 4th September 2010 - Oschersleben, Germany. Dean Stoneman claimed his fifth victory of the
season - and the overall points lead - with a masterful drive in wet conditions
at Oschersleben.
In what was F2's first wet race of 2010, Stoneman made an incredible
start from fifth on the grid to move into the lead by turn one whilst his
rivals suffered wheel spin in the treacherous conditions and were forced to
deal with the elements in his wake for the entire race.
With the spray from each car limiting visibility, Stoneman took full
advantage of running at the front to open a three second lead by the end of lap
two. From there he never looked back, gradually stretching his lead over the
remainder of the race to eventually claim the chequered flag more than 15
seconds clear of second place driver setting a F2 record for margin of victory.
"I don't know what I did at the start but it was a bit
special," Stoneman said. "After that I just had to keep it smooth and
stay consistent."
Whilst Stoneman looked comfortable out front, title rival Jolyon Palmer
could only manage third place and in so doing dropped behind Stoneman in the
Championship standing.
