Carrera Join in Morgan
Celebrations
One of the most famous names
in British motoring celebrated its centenary in style at Cheltenham Race Course
in Gloucestershire 1st &2nd of August with a little
help from one of the biggest names in slot racing.
The Morgan Motor Company, who
has been producing hand built sports cars for past 100 years, invited Carrera
to join in the Morgan festivities at Cheltenham with its impressive Carrera
Race Centre.
The Race Centre, a purpose
built exhibition structure specially brought to the UK from Germany, allowed
visitors to drive Morgan Aeromax and Plus Eight’s in glorious 1/32 scale around
two huge and impressive Carrera Digital 132 slot racing tracks. The two layouts comprised of a practice
track designed for Morgan fans to become familiar with the impressive digital
system and all of its functions.

From there they were able to
register for a Carrera race licence and drive on the 15 metre race track where
4 cars each race battled against the clock to set the fastest race time of the
day for the chance to win one of three Carrera prizes including a first prize
of a Carrera Evolution Morgan Centenary race set. The competition was certainly fast and fierce as each competitor
tried to out race the other amongst a frenzy of digitally controlled overtaking
moves.
The Carrera Race Centre
proved a massive hit with the 10,000 crowd, many of whom jostled in the large
and constant queue over the two days to have a go on the Carrera attraction.

Apart from the sheer fun of
the racing, the Race Centre also acted as a means to drive footfall to the
Morgan merchandising marquee situated next door, which had on sale, a range of
Carrera slot cars and the Morgan Centenary set.
Carrera certainly made an
impression on the visitors to this milestone event and helped raise awareness
of the Carrera brand amongst Morgan fans. This was symbolised by the hundreds
of Carrera flags, which had been handed out by The Hobby Company marketing
team, being waved by the crowd watching the orchestral finale concert on Sunday
evening.
